This is hellbox.

Just in case you were curious...

hell·box  n. Printing A receptacle for broken or discarded type. The job of sorting the type from the hellbox and putting it back into the job case was given to the apprentice, known as a printer's devil. Later, when continuous casting or hot-metal typesetting machines such as the Linotype machine and Monotype became popular, the hellbox was used for storing discarded or broken type that were smelted down and recast. Hence the by-line: “we break rules so you don’t have to”.

Currently I am operating/playing with the following...

The Blessed Diane Arbus Memorial Gallery and Diner, a.k.a. The BDA Memorial Gallery and Diner, a.k.a. the gallery. This is the repository for the photographs and photographic suites that I consider amongst my better works of art. Everything I do artistically using photography as a medium will end up here. Due to size and space constraints, larger works, in particular those that fall under the category of photographic composites and/or collages, will be found on the flickr site (see below).

..., a.k.a. the blog. This is my online journal, diary, and things-I-find-interesting-with-applicable-links. I have discovered writing to be cathartic, so I apologize in advance if some of the bits you find here are overly whiny and bitchy – I’m not always like that, like most people, just sometimes. The links are as good as the moment they arrived – who knows if they will still be there when you arrive. I’ll try to embed as much as I can; I’m sure you understand that there will be some restrictions.

“the rustle of leaves”, the adumbrate site, is my home for my works of illustrated fiction. I like to tell stories and these are some of the stories I have to tell. They are all fiction, but like most fiction they are based on things I have experienced. As for “adumbrate”, it is Latin for “...to foreshadow vaguely; to give a vague outline; to obscure or overshadow...” – you can guess where this is headed, I’m sure.

I've added two other "Latin" sites, sic transit gloria and in flagrante delicto, "glory is fleeting" and "the scene of the crime" respectfully. Both are resting spots for successful experiments in web based video and animation.

The hoped for agitprop site, naked girl beaten badly, has also appeared. Again, primarily video based, but with a more political bent. If I am pissed about something it will appear here.

The sandbox is where I am going to play with the items that interest me in terms of publishing to the web. Snippets of code, experiments, oops, awes and oh-oh’s; you name it, I’ll probably test drive it here first.

flickr and YouTube will remain the semi-commercial repositories for larger photographs (the aforementioned composites and collages, which suck up a huge amount of bandwidth that I quite simply cannot afford to provide), generalized suites of photos, videos/animations, odds and sods that I feel necessitate a larger distribution network that I can provide.
